On September 14th, the legendary Robert Bateman was in Toronto to celebrate the inaugural Nature Sketch on the Great Trail event. This was a free public sketching event that took across seven Canadian cities at locations along the trail. Hopefully, it’ll be back again next year.
Joining Bob to speak about the Great Trail was board member Valerie Pringle and artist, filmmaker and explorer, Cory Trépanier. In attendance from the Bateman Foundation was Executive Director Peter Ord and Kaitlyn Corlett. The Toronto Nature Sketch team was represented by Jessica and Sally. I was there as the photo guy.
Check out this awesome video Cory made of day:

Bob, being the generous person he is, always lets folks look through his personal sketchbooks - this is a real treat for all of us Bateman fans! For those who weren’t able to attend the event, I shot pictures of some of his sketchbook pages (scroll down). If seeing these Bateman sketches doesn’t inspire you to run out and start sketching right now, I don’t know what will!
